News
Recent developements have included the publishing of my images in a magazine, the judging of photographic competitions and commissions for two local companies.

I recently sent a selection of images away to a magazine called 'Photography Monthly' which is one of the UK's best selling photography magazines. I was delighted to here that they have agreed to publish some of the images in the 'Portfolio' section of the magazine. The article will be in the May issue which is on sale in late April.

The Isle of Man Photographic Society asked me to judge an open competition in September of last year which had a total of 90 images. These included colour slides and colour/black and white prints. Although it was quite a daunting task, being the first competition I had ever judged, I found the experience very rewarding and I have agreed to judge again this year. In February of this year I also judged an open competition for the Western Photographic Society, again with a similar number of entries. My thanks go out to both societies for making me feel so welcome and it was nice to see work of such high standard.

Microgaming have just set up their new headquarters in Circular Road, Douglas and I was asked to photograph the bulding at night as they projected Lara Croft onto the side of the bulding. This commission was ideally suited for the large format camera which allows the photographer to keep the camera back parallel with the building (avoiding converging verticals) while the front rise ensures the top of the building is in the frame. The results were very pleasing and they can be viewed in the commissions gallery.

Cains Advocates Ltd contacted me with regard to using an image for their new company brochure. They wanted a dynamic image of the Isle of Man and after some discussion we decided a night shot of Douglas would be ideal for their purposes. I chose the junction of Victoria Street and Loch Promenade as my location which was the site of the old Villiers Hotel (now the Royal Bank of Scotland). The results can be seen in the commissions gallery.

Future Goals
I am currently working on the new Images of Mann calendar 2006. The calendar will be slightly different from last years with more room to write on the calendar and bigger pictures. There are several trade shows this year where I will be exhibiting my pictures, including: Tynwald, the Southern Agricultural Show and the Royal Manx Agricultural Show. I may also have a stand at the Manx Lifestyle Exhibition (to be confirmed). In the meantime I will continue to add to my portfolio of images.
