RK066/St. Trinian's Chapel

This ruined chapel sits at the foot of the Greeba mountain and dates back to the 12th Century. Manx Folklore tells the story of a local creature called the Buggane. This giant was concerned, that on completion of the church, the Monk's would be constantly ringing the bells and disturbing his peace. Therefore, every time the roof was put on, he would tear it off again, ensuring the church would never be finished. I took the image from the small stream that runs along side the ruin and framed the chapel between the rather sinister, outstretched 'arms' of the trees.

RK075/Glen Mooar Beach

Glen Mooar is located just south of Kirk Michael and in its upper reaches you will find Spooyt Vane Waterfall. Where the river meets the sea, there are a number of weathered groynes which make for an interesting black and white study. I positioned the sun between the middle and right groyne and took several shots as the tide advanced. Using 2 ND Graduated filters meant I was able to keep some detail in the groynes while correctly exposing for the bright sky.

RK086/Druidale

I rarely have company with me when I am out with my camera, however, on this occasion I was delighted to be joined by the very talented Victoria Harrop and the equally talented Afzal Ansary. Afzal is the Regional Organiser of the Royal Photographic Society and it was his first visit to the island, so Vicky thought it would be good for us to show him a few sights. This ruined fence (near Druidale Farm) was spotted by the keen eyed Victoria. I thought the play of light on the fields would make a wonderful black and white image and I have to say I am delighted with the results. Maybe I should stop being so antisocial after all?
